Journals Prompt (“we”, “us”, “our”) publishes free journaling prompts at https://journalsprompt.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You don’t need an account, and we never see what you write in your journal. Our Copy buttons only copy prompt text to your device’s clipboard. Nothing is sent to us.
- We use analytics tools to understand how the site is used, and advertising and affiliate partners to help fund it.
- These partners may use cookies and similar technologies. You can change your cookie choices at any time ([Cookie settings] link in the footer) and opt out of personalized ads using the links below.

4. Cookies and your choices
We use a cookie banner to ask for your consent where the law requires it. Cookies fall into three groups: necessary, analytics and advertising.
- Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland: analytics tools (including Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) and advertising cookies run only after you consent. You can change or withdraw consent at any time through [Cookie settings].
- Browser controls: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work properly if you do.
- Ad choices: you can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info/choices, youronlinechoices.eu or optout.networkadvertising.org.
5. Advertising (Google AdSense)
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Ads Settings. Ads shown on our site are not endorsements.
6. Session recordings (Microsoft Clarity)
Clarity records anonymous interaction data, such as clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can see which parts of a page confuse people. [We configure Clarity to mask text typed into form fields and other sensitive content. Confirm this in your Clarity settings before publishing.] We use this information only to improve the site.
7. Affiliate links
Some links on the site are affiliate links. When you click one, the partner may set a cookie so it can credit us for a purchase. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
8. Newsletter and contact messages
We use your email address only to send the newsletter or reply to your message. You can unsubscribe using the link in every email. We keep contact messages for up to [12 months] unless we need them longer to resolve an issue.
9. How long we keep data
- Google Analytics data is kept for [14 months] (set in your Analytics settings).
- Microsoft Clarity recordings are kept according to Clarity’s retention settings ([30 days] by default for most projects, so confirm yours).
- Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe.
10. Your rights (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
11. California and other US states
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion or correction, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Advertising cookies may count as “sharing” under some state laws. Use [Cookie settings] or the opt-out links above to opt out. We do not discriminate against you for using these rights.
12. Children
Journals Prompt is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, they rely on legal safeguards for these transfers.
14. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no website or service can be guaranteed completely secure.
15. Links to other sites
Our content links to other sites, including retailers and Pinterest. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies.
